The JDF Realty Professionals

Rob Frischman • President
Rob Frischman, Founder and President, has been selling and managing real estate in the New York Metro region for more than 20 years. A graduate of Clark University, Rob is the leader of JDF Realty, Inc., a highly motivated and savvy group of commercial brokerage veterans.

Rob began his real estate career with Algin Management in Forest Hills, NY as a property manager handling such properties as Hilary Gardens and Laurence Towers in Manhattan. After obtaining an Associate Broker's license at age 23, Frischman moved to Chodosh Realty Services in Tribeca. At Chodosh Realty, his primary focus was the retail lease-up of the newly developed and highly ambitious Red Square mixed use, project developed by Mike Gruss and Michael Rosen in the East Village. In addition to Red Square, Frischman established his niche in the downtown market by arranging a number of retail and art gallery lease transactions in Soho and Tribeca. A notable transaction arranged in 1988 was the Gin Market, located at 111 Hudson Street. This deal was significant to the growth of the block, which is now the home of Nobu and its counterpart, Next Door Nobu as well as Bubby's and Issey Miyake. With the continued dearth of supermarkets in Tribeca, the recently renovated Gin Market remains a popular destination for Tribecans.

Rob founded JDF Realty, Inc. in 1992 after three years of success with Chodosh. Since then, Frischman has complemeted JDF's strong retail leasing expertise with office and institutional leasing, restaurant leasing and sales, as well as investment sales. Significant transactions Rob has arranged include the creation of the downtown Manhattan campus of Nyack College, totaling more than 70,000 square feet at 335 Broadway and 361 Broadway. Frischman arranged the lease and development of 28 residential apartments at the Tower at 242 East 14th Street to NYU School of Medicine. More recently, Frischman as exclusive agent for Red Apple Child Development Centers, arranged lease transactions at 101 West End Avenue, 25 Tudor City Place, 600 Avenue of the Americas, 1190 Park Avenue, 1501 Lexington Avenue and 351 West 42nd Street in Manhattan. Rob also arranged the sale of the net lease of the former Bargain World department store building at 6-14 West 125th Street to a group of investors.

The last few years have seen the bar raised dramatically at JDF Realty. Done deals include the Veloce chain of wine bars, Buddakan, Morimoto, Telepan, Japonais, Alto, Boqueria, Pure Food and Wine, Rocco's and L'Impero. Last year, Rob was responsible for the relocation and expansion deal to move Whole Foods Market in Millburn, NJ to a new site in Vauxhall, NJ.

So far this year, JDF Realty has relocated Oscar Gruss and Son to 292 Madison Avenue and has been hired to represent Mike Gruss to lease its landmark townhouse across the street from Goldman Sachs. Jeffrey Lefcourt of Jane restaurant on West Houston Street has signed a lease for the Pizzeria Uno on Third Avenue to build a restaurant and market.

Finally, Rob has sold 107 Reade Street in Tribeca to the owners of the Cosmopolitan Hotel for the addition of up to 30 new rooms and a lobby expansion.

Rob is a member of the Retail Stores Committee of the Real Estate Board of New York and a member of the International Council of Shopping Centers.

As 2007 marks the 15 year anniversary of the founding of JDF Realty, Rob believes that the future is brighter than ever and looks forward to continuing success with all of JDF Realty's clients, customers, colleagues and associates.

Before joining the firm he was at Douglas Elliman for more than 10 years and before that was the owner of Creative Leasing Concepts in Tribeca. Leslie Siben • Director of Retail Leasing
When Leslie Siben joined JDF Realty in September 2002 as Director of Restaurant Retail Services, she was looking to expand her already thriving restaurant real estate practice. She couldn’t have made a better choice. JDF Realty may be smaller than other firms she has worked at, “but it’s much more synergetic and communal, and the support I get here is phenomenal.” Since arriving at JDF Realty, Siben has become New York City’s leading restaurant brokerage specialist for high-end, boutique restaurants, and has succeeded in brokering some of the largest restaurant deals in the city, including: Morimoto, Buddakan, Telepan, Japonias and Rocco’s ‘The Restaurant’.

Siben began her professional career as an attorney, but the lure of the commercial real estate world soon drew her in. Her first brokerage position began in 1988 at New Spectrum, where she spent six years working on a variety of retail transactions including restaurants.

In 1993 she joined Winick Realty Group to focus on boutique-style restaurants. At Winick she developed strong relationships with the city’s top chefs and restaurant owners as well as attorneys, contractors and other industry professionals. There she brokered deals for Red Square (now The Kobe Club), Jane, Sage and Cloves.

After 8 years at Winick, Siben joined JDF Realty, a decision she thanks herself for making everyday. “It’s exciting to work on the big stuff, and gratifying that I can complete deals with really experienced operators. No deal ever runs completely smoothly, that’s just the nature of this business; but at JDF, there’s a strong capability to work out the problems.”

Siben is a lifelong Manhattan resident and she constantly taps into her knowledge of the city to help restaurateurs discover the ideal location. She is a member of the Real Estate Board of New York since 1988, a member of the Real Estate Board of New York Stores Committee since 1994 and a regular contributor to the local real estate coverage by the NY Post and NY Times real estate press.
